Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. After moving to Oxfordshire when she was five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Emma chose to be an actor when she was six. Through the years, she attended the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing as well as dancing, and also acting. At the age of 10, she was performing and taking as the main character in several Stagecoach shows and school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The film adaptation from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was filmed for first time in 1999. Agents for casting found Emma via her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had eight straight auditions. Emma's film debut came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It was also one of the top-rated films in 2001. Opening weekday and weekend the sales were record breaking. Critics praised the film and the performance of three young stars. The well-known British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable. Emma was awarded the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for a Feature Film. The actress was recognized five times in recognition of her role in the movie.
